James Loughrey is a British record producer, mixer, and programmer whose work spans rock, pop, and electronic music, with credits ranging from alternative cult acts to global chart successes.
He is best known for his long-standing collaboration with Skindred, producing a defining run of albums including Union Black (2011), Kill The Power (2014), Volume (2015), and Big Tings (2018). This period marked a major rise for the band, taking them from club shows to headline performances at London’s O2 Academy Brixton and prominent slots at Download Festival.
Alongside this, Loughrey has contributed to a number of commercially successful releases. His work on “Murder on the Dancefloor” with Sophie Ellis-Bextor has achieved enduring global success, amassing over 300 million streams and returning to the charts years after its original release—including reaching No.1 on the UK Dance Chart in 2024. He also worked on “Everyone” from Cheryl’s Messy Little Raindrops, part of a UK No.1 album, and contributed to “Stuck in the Middle with You” by Louise, which reached No.2 on the UK Singles Chart.
His wider credits reflect a rare versatility, including work with My Vitriol, Atomic Kitten, Sugababes, and electronic artist Flux Pavilion, alongside projects involving internationally recognised artists such as Dave Gahan, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and Lionel Richie.
Known for blending live energy with modern production techniques, Loughrey’s work bridges organic and electronic elements, delivering records that resonate both commercially and on stage.
